Kitty Hawk Air Society

The Emerald Chapter of the Kitty Hawk Air Society began 24 March 1998.  The KHAS is the academic honor society of Air Force Junior ROTC.  Its purpose is to promote high academic standards, school and community service, self-confidence, and initiative.  The KHAS also develops leadership abilities, recognizes academic excellence, and furthers members’ knowledge of the Air Force role in aerospace.  Activities of this chapter will be planned and carried out by the cadets, under the direct guidance and supervision of the AFJROTC instructors.

Kitty Hawk Air Society Requirements

1.  Minimum academic grade of 93 in Junior ROTC and a cumulative GPA of 3.0.

2.  Cadets will go through a pledge status of approximately 30 school days.  During this period, they will be evaluated and expected to accomplish a pledge program composed of reasonable tasks.  Failure to complete the pledge program will preclude membership.

3.  Certificate of membership will be awarded to deserving cadets in at an appropriate time and place in a dignified manner.

4.  Any member who fails to maintain their grades, or uphold standards of conduct will be placed on probation until the nine-weeks is over.  Cadets who fail to elevate their grades to required levels by the end of the next nine-week grading period are removed from membership.  They may become members again after another nine-weeks if they recovered their grades.
